About TanzaniaTanzania is the largest country in Eastern Africa. It has an area of 937.062 sq km. Tanzania is famous for Africas most magnificent fabulous National Parks. The country is called the Cradle of mankind for it is in Olduvai Gorge where the remains of Homo Habilis was found.
The country lies in a strategic position on the east coast of Africa. As one of the southernmost independent African-ruled states of the continent, committed to the liberation of non-self-governing peoples, it harbors African liberation of groups and refugees. It serves as an outlet for the transit trade of land locked Zambia. The country is formed of the former Tanganyika administered by the British as a trusteeship territory until 1961, and the island of Zanzibar, which was a British protectorate until 1963. The union of the Zanzibar countries in April 1964 took place shortly after a revolutionary coup had replaced the first independent government of Zanzibar with a politically radical government. By January 1968 the union had been implemented only at the legislative levels, but for Tanganyika the danger of a radical and potentially subversive force on its offshore islands had been averted.
